The pc that I'd added to the topology was something I was tinkering with, but I shut the port down on the router so that it wouldn't effect the lab. studies, so it's not like it's connecting to something real through my computer. If I replace the cloud with a virtual pc, would it make a difference? I dont have any real cisco equipment that can be used in the ccna sec. That has been removed, the connection is from the cloud, which is what every video seems to advise using. Beyond that though, more advanced equipment/simulation is necessary. Prior to this, I'd used Packet Tracer for most of my configuration, as almost all of the CCNA studies is support by it. Thanks again for replying, I appreciate the help. When I try, it takes a looooong time for any discovery to complete. If you use the setup to check it out, see if you can get ccp to cooperate. Here's the running-configs from the three 7200s I'm using and the. Now I'm just trying to get CCP to discover my devices properly, it takes a long time to discover the first device (and sometimes it occurs with errors), and I cannot get it to discover devices beyond the first one. Anyway, I'd found a youtube video by Keith Barker that explained how to add persistent routes to my pc and it solved the reachability problem. I don't have actual Cisco devices that'd work for this kind of study and can't afford them at the moment so I am attempting a strictly virtual implementation. ![]() I didn't know that in order to communicated beyond the first router connected to the cloud, that you'd have to have persistent routes configured on the pc that GNS3 is running on. ![]() You're right to think about router print as a tool to see what's happening. It's a big topic in the newest version of CCNA Security. You can install it on a pc and use the gui to monitor and manage devices. CCP is Cisco's replacement for Security Device Manager, it's Cisco Configuration Professional. Output of route print on PC running ccp would be useful (to show that its default gateway is the attached interface on R1 OR to prove that you have added a route on the PC to tell it how to get to the places it can't ping. or show run from GNS3 console would be nice So the problem is this: CCP cannot detect any routers beyond it's own gateway.CCP? It's killing me, because I want to use this as a basis for all my CCNA Security labs. All the routers can ping and reply to each other, but the only one that replies to pings from the loopback is it's own gateway (It's like the gateway is not forwarding or routing any information that ORIGINATES from the loopback adapter), the routers can ping the loopback adapter but the loopback adapter cannot ping beyond the gateway. Upon careful inspection, I've noticed that no pings succeed beyond this same gateway. So the problem is this: CCP cannot detect any routers beyond it's own gateway. The problem is that it cannot discover any routers beyond that. I have ccp running on my pc and it can discover the router that the cloud is connected to. I am routing all of the directly connected subnets through the use of eigrp and all 3 routers can talk to each other. ![]() I have the three routers connected to each other through serial links, and have a cloud connected to one of them (which is using MS Loopback adapter on Windows 8). The little lab I have set up consists of 3 c7200 series routers that are running this version of Cisco IOS- c7200-advipservicesk9-mz150-1M I have an image for all of the devices that can be supported on gns3, I'm working on ccna security 640-554. I put on the topology 2 dynamips Cisco router (c3725-adventerprisek9-mz.124-25d) : R1 and R2įor each router, in the configure menu, in Slots, in Adapters WICS, i set "wic 0" to "WIC-2T" Subject: 2.2 : can't use wic adapters added on running routers ( #3082) GNS3 is sort of strict on what devices you can use. ![]() I don’t have the link to the thread, but it could be the images. I asked this question way back and some images just won’t work right in GNS3. Also, it could be the images you are using.
